Dr Priyantha graduated medicine from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2001. He worked at Kandy teaching hospital, Sri Lanka as a Medical officer before migrating to Australia in 2009.

Dr Priyantha has worked in the Emergency departments of Campbelltown, Liverpool and Camden hospitals as a Career Medical Officer. He moved to Tamworth to pursue his career as a General Practitioner in 2012.

Dr Priyantha was awarded Fellowship of Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2015. He also has a ‘Diploma in Child Health’ from the University of Sydney (2016).

During his career he taught medical students, been an accredited GP supervisor and a clinical teaching visitor whilst working at Tamworth Aboriginal Medical Service (2016 – 2019).

Since 2019 Dr Priyantha has been a clinical examiner for Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

Away from work he enjoys travelling, music and cricket.
